Privacy Policy

PSQLCarbon is a PostgreSQL client for macOS made by Naji Amer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

The short version

The PSQLCarbon app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you enter stays on your Mac. The only exception is your email address, and only if you choose to join the early access list.

What stays on your Mac

The app keeps the following on your Mac only, inside its own sandboxed folder:

  • the database connections you add, including their passwords;
  • your query history and saved queries;
  • your AI assistant conversations and the notes ("memories") you ask it to keep;
  • your settings, including any AI provider API keys.

None of this is sent to us. Deleting the app removes it.

Connections the app makes

PSQLCarbon only connects to:

  • Your database servers. These are the PostgreSQL servers you add yourself, and the app connects to them directly.
  • The AI provider you choose, if you use the assistant. If you set up DeepSeek or OpenAI with your own API key, your questions are sent straight from your Mac to that provider. Those questions can include the database schema details and query results the assistant needs to answer. That provider's privacy policy then applies. If you use a local model through LM Studio or Ollama, nothing leaves your Mac. The assistant is off until you set it up.
  • Google Fonts. The interface loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address.
  • GitHub. The app fetches public information about the PSQLCarbon project, such as its star count, from GitHub's public API. Nothing about you or your databases is sent.

Early access list (optional)

The app offers to add you to the early access list for new features, on its start screen and with the Early access button. This is optional: you can skip it, and the app works the same either way.

If you join, your email address is sent to our sign up form at nextmark.ae, together with where you joined from (the app or its start screen). We use it only to email you about new PSQLCarbon features, never sell or share it, and every email has an unsubscribe link. To be removed at any time, unsubscribe or write to naji@nextmark.ae.

Feedback

The Feedback button prepares a GitHub issue and opens it in your browser. Nothing is sent from the app: you review the issue and post it from your own GitHub account, where it is public under GitHub's terms. If you choose, it includes the app version and your system version.

This website

This website (psqlcarbon.com), unlike the app, uses Google Analytics to count visits. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and your approximate location. See Google's privacy policy for details.

Children

PSQLCarbon is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
